Concerts

Monsters of Metal

Nov 2 | 6:30pm | $15 | Full Bar | All Ages

Mr. Crowley was born back in 1999, a time when there weren’t any Ozzy or Black Sabbath tribute acts around yet. After almost two decades of paying tribute to The Prince Of Darkness, the passion for performing these incredible works burns stronger than ever in every one of the members… Through the last 19 years, the band has gone through countless members and incarnations, many whom have gone on to join up with larger than life acts making Mr. Crawley somewhat of a breeding ground.

Other Acts: Maiden USA | Big City Nights | Dirty Deeds

Dokken

Nov 3| 6:30pm | $30 | Full Bar | All Ages

Dokken exploded out of the boiling hard rock/heavy metal scene in Los Angeles in the early 1980s. 1983’s “Breaking the Chains” with its catchy title track, set the stage for Dokken becoming the most dominant creative and commercial force in the world of Melodic Hard Rock for the following years. Such classic albums as “Tooth and Nail”, “Under Lock and Key” and “Back for the Attack” all became Multi-Platinum selling smashes and the live “Beast from the East” went gold in Europe and Japan. Songs like “Alone Again”, “Just Got Lucky”, “Into the Fire”, “In My Dreams”, “Unchain the Night”, “Dream Warriors”, “Burning like a Flame” and “Heaven Sent” are still nowadays regarded among the genre’s finest.

Country Weekend and More in Big Bear Lake

Who’s Ready for a Country Weekend??

This coming weekend is a very special one, because we have two country legends playing right here at The Cave! We will be having Phil Vassar on Friday, and Mark Wills on Saturday, with some amazing opening acts for you. Along with an awesome weekend at The Cave, Big Bear will be having a myriad of events going on. We have events happening every day here in this beautiful town, and we would love to experience them with you! Here are some things coming up this weekend.

Concerts

Phil Vassar

Oct 12 | 6:30pm | $40 | Full bar | All Ages

Phil Vassar is one of a handful of musicians to have multiple hits as a songwriter AND as an artist. He has 10 Number 1s, 15 Top 10s, and 26 TOP 40s.  Top songs include Just Another Day in Paradise. Carlene, Six Pack Summer, American Child, For a Little While & My Next Thirty Years (Tim McGraw), Right on the Money (Alan Jackson), I’m All Right & Bye Bye (Jodee Messina) and many more. American Soul is Phil’s ninth album. He also recently launched “Songs from the Cellar” a wine-infused musical conversation airing across the US and Europe.

Grab your tickets here!

Mark Wills

Oct 13 | 6:30pm | $30 | Full Bar | All Ages

The Reader’s Digest version of Mark Wills’ story makes it clear he’s an award-winning singer’s singer. His matchless phrasing, passionate and meaningful delivery and right-on-the money vocals make each and every song he performs come alive. Like a picture perfect painting, Wills’ music is a vocal work of art that walks right off the canvas and into the hearts of country music lovers alike.
Bringing the Wills’ dimension to some of the greatest songs ever written, he’s not necessarily become known for being trendy, hip or even on the cutting edge, but rather and simply as a damn good singer!

Concerts

Cubensis: Grateful Dead tribute

Sept 28 | 6:30pm | $15 | Full Bar | All Ages

Since 1987, Los Angeles-based band Cubensis has carried the torch in celebration of one of America’s most beloved touring bands, the Grateful Dead. Cubensis sets out to re-create the Grateful Dead experience by emulating the spirit of Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and the rest of the legendary San Francisco jam band. Cubensis plays complete shows covering all eras of the Grateful Dead, and no night is ever the same. Cubensis is far more than just your standard cover band as they bring the magic and sounds to those longing for the live vibe that only the Grateful Dead was able to deliver.

Cubensis performs its critically acclaimed live performance of Grateful Dead show recreations to audiences and venues all over the western United States. Giving homage in a continually evolving artistic outlet, the band recreates the Grateful Dead experience with compelling accuracy. Like the Dead, the band explores and searches out all the possibilities of the music.

Drowning Pool

Sept 29 | 6:30pm | $18 | Full Bar | All Ages

Giant riffs, crowd moving grooves and monstrous vocals are the tools with which DROWNING POOL build triumph out of tragedy, steadily evolve without compromise, and remain true to their supporters with over a decade’s worth of remarkable fortitude and attitude. HELLELUJAH is absolutely the album their diehard fans demanded and the aggressive heavy rock world at large deserved.

The platinum-plus conquerors from The Lone Star State deliver their heaviest batch of hell raising anthems, each burning with fiery adrenaline destined to light the radio ablaze and ignite crowds into impassioned sing-alongs. Only a few seconds into the album’s first single, “By the Blood,” it’s evident that Hellelujah is the most aggressive, ambitious, and truly definitive Drowning Pool album since Sinner, the platinum platter that gave the world Top 20 rock radio hit “Tear Away” and the massively successful “Bodies.”

ABOUT DONKEY ISLAND PENITENTIARY

Donkey Island Penitentiary is the sound of garage, punk and science fiction, filtered through the blues, while Big Dave growls dreamy lyrics about his nightmares.

In 2014, 4 (mostly) innocent men were sentenced to Donkey Island Penitentiary for crimes they definitely committed. They promptly escaped to the Los Angeles Underground, where they survive as a fuzz harmonica driven rock and roll band while they continue to evade the law.

Four years ago, Big Dave spent a month in a coma, and as he lay dying his mind became unstuck in time. Upon waking, he told Alejandro and Vincent of his strangely vivid dreams: time travel, deals with devils, vigilante justice, and regret across different planes of consciousness. When Dave could walk again they got to work, and with Miguel, they are a fearsome foursome of guitars, drums, bass and harmonica.

They have been crafting their songs in secret. Now is the time for their big escape.

ABOUT HIPNOSTIC

hIPNOSTIC is a heavy rock band from Orange County, CA. Our music is driven by a passion for heavy contagious riffs, powerful rhythmic grooves, thought provoking arrangements that filter through a positive and hopeful lyrical message. The band draws inspiration from artists like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Chevelle, Seether, Shinedown and Godsmack.

Our latest singles “Ain’t No Sunshine”, which is a unique heavy rock version of the classic Bill Withers tune with a dark moody spin and “Blind Eyes See” truly embody what the band’s music is all about and where we are headed in the future. The band released its debut record “Dissolve Me” which garnered many positive reviews. Debra Stocker, Editor of All ACCESS said, “Dissolve Me is by far one of the best hard Rock/alternative sounding albums I’ve come across this year”. Modern Fix Magazine had this to say, “The talent level is high, the range is varied, the voice is superior, the guitar riffs are catchy and there are numerous standout tracks on “Dissolve Me. There is a commercial shine to this made-for-radio band”.

ABOUT DEREK DAY

Derek Day is a screaming, 23 year-old Los Angelino solo artist from Eaglerock , CA that infuses the power of Rock N’ Roll N’ Other Genres (R&B,Soul,Progressive Rock,Punk) who engages with and captures the audience theatrically. He’s on the lead, licky, riffy, stylistic Electric Guitar to accompany his lead, burning, gritty, soulful contralto Vocals. Finally releasing his first EP in Spring 2017, he’s been performing over 10 years with influences ranging from Led Zeppelin through Coltrane, stopping for minute at Tom Waits, to Kendrick Lamar meets GN’R while Stevie Ray Vaughan has breakfast with Mercury n’ MJ. It’s always a BLAST!

The child of honorable working-class parents, Derek Day was born & raised in and around Downtown Los Angeles. “He had started vocalizing when he was a baby”, his mother recalling, “singing along to ‘We Will Rock You’ during a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial  when he was only 4 months.”  He picked up guitar playing around 6 years old- writing his first melody on a plastic guitar with 4 strings. Being raised on classic and hard rock styles since the day he was born, eventually Day started performing out on the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade as well as Venice Beach at age 13. He quickly learned to love styles of Motown, Jazz, Funk as well as Progressive, Alternative and Experimental music. Street Performing taught Day how to deal with audiences- whilst the cover tunes he was performing taught him how to emote, scream, and feel what really meant the world to him. Now, he has something to say of his own, something new to show you- A reason to look up.

Concerts

Faster Pussycat

Hollywood sleaze rockers Faster Pussycat made their mark in the world with a self-titled debut in 1987 and the 1989 gold album Wake Me When It’s Over, which spawned the hit single and video “House of Pain.”

The band originally formed in 1985, famously taking its name from the Russ Meyer oult film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! During their early commercial peak the band line-up was Taime Downe (vocals), Greg Steele (guitar), Brent Musoat (guitar), Kelly Nickels (bass) and Mark Michals (drums).

Prior to the band’s break-up in 1992, Downe had already been working with the ground breaking industrial collective Pigface. After Pussycat, he formed the darkly brilliant Newlydeads, along with Kyle Kyle (Bang Tango). A Newlydeads self-titled LP appeared in 1997. They released a remix project called Re-Bound shortly thereafter and Dead End in 2001. That same year Downe resurrected a rock-driven, more evolved Faster Pussycat with original members Muscat (guitar_ and Steele (guitar) playing alongside Newlydeads Xristian Simon (guitar), Danny Nordahl (bass), and Chad Stewart (drums)

Berlin feat Terri Nunn

This Los Angeles-based synth pop group, founded by bassist John Crawford, singer Terri Nunn, and keyboard player David Diamond, made its first national impression with the provocative single “Sex (I’m A…)” from the gold-selling debut EP Pleasure Victim in 1982. The group was filled out by guitarist Rick Olsen, keyboard player Matt Reid, and drummer Rob Brill. Berlin’s first full-length LP was the gold Love Life in 1984. In 1985, the group was pared down to a trio of Crawford, Nunn, and Brill. Berlin topped the charts in 1986 with the single “Take My Breath Away,” the love theme from the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun.

Nunn left for a solo career in 1987, and Crawford and Brill teamed up in the Big F. In 1999, the band reunited to record some new studio material and also performed a concert, which, along with the new songs, was released as 2000’s Berlin Live: Sacred and Profane. This was followed a year later by a flurry of recording sessions that included co-writing tracks with Billy Corgan, among others. The end result, Voyeur, was their first full-length studio release in over 15 years.

EXENE CERVENKA – JOHN DOE – BILLY ZOOM – DJ BONEBRAKE
THE FACT IS, NO ONE SOUNDS LIKE X AND NO ONE EVER WILL.
It’s not surprising when you consider the group’s unique beginnings, which can only be attributed to fate. On the same day with nearly the exact same wording, two want-ads appear in a local music rag. One was sent in by a guitarist named Billy Zoom, the other by bassist who called himself John Doe.

Zoom, a rockabilly rebel who’d performed with Gene Vincent, had read a negative review of a band called the Ramones. It said they only played three chords and they played ‘em too fast. So naturally, he went to see them. The show was at the Golden West Ballroom in the L.A. suburb of Norwalk in early ’77, and as soon as the Ramones started to perform, Zoom realized that, musically, he’d found exactly what he wanted to do with his life.

Doe, who was originally from the Baltimore area, was already down with the East Coast CBGB’s scene and by the time the two got in the same room together after responding to each other’s ads, it seemed it was meant to be. They performed a few shows with various drummers before a poet with no ambition of being a singer would enter the picture.

Country Night at The Cave

About Redwood Black

Redwood Black came to life in 2017. Members JT Harker, Joe Devenney, Alex Seller, Todd Coogan, and Joe Conner, previously were known as the band Honky Tonk Boombox. Residing in the metropolis of Los Angeles, California, their sound combines the richness and depth of California’s country music heritage and a rock/pop edge that only comes from being immersed in the LA music scene. The band released their debut single “Murder In Georgia” in late 2017. To get all the latest news and updates, sign up for their mailing list below. See you on the road!

About Rob Leines

Rob Leines’ music originated in the Southeast within the Appalachian Mountains.  With the influence of Country, Rock and Roll, and Blues, his unique Americana sound was born on the hills of Tennessee.  Soon after Leines expanded to the west. While welding and metal working for the oil and gas industry along the pacific coast, Rob’s music took on a more raw and gritty side. The blue collar lifestyle and southern roots make for a genuine representation of the American songwriter through his music.  The Rob Leines Band is a fresh sound, with a rowdy charisma and attitude that country rock needs. His upcoming album, “Bad Seed” will be released MAY 13th

About The Rhyolite Sound

Formed in Las Vegas, NV in 2013, The Rhyolite Sound bring their own desert honky tonk to the stage blending elements of Outlaw, Rockabilly, Honky Tonk, Blues, and Rock N Roll. Their aim is to attract the hardest core traditionalist as well as the most casual country music fan with a live show that’s raucous and rowdy, containing plenty of banter in between songs to keep their audience entertained. Delicately weaving their melodies and harmonies alongside madness and mayhem, The Rhyolite Sound are purveyors of pure honky tonk in an impure world.

Geoff Tate’s 30th Anniversary of Operation: Mindcrime

When most musicians record solo albums, it’s because they need an outlet for material that doesn’t fit the scope of their band. That wasn’t the case with Geoff Tate. While there’s very little on his solo debut that couldn’t fit within the ever-evolving musical scope of Queensrÿche, the difference for the vocalist lies in the expression of those songs, and how they actually came to fruition.

“The problem when you’re in a creative environment is keeping things fresh and invigorating, and after working with the same people for twenty years, it gets very difficult—You walk into the room, and everybody knows what everybody is going to do,” explains the frontman. “There’s no spark of new blood, the chemistry is very tried and true, and you just keep coming up with the same ways of expressing yourself. What’s nice about doing a side project with new people, is that it’s a whole new breed, and a bunch of new ideas, musical backgrounds, emotional baggage, and whatever else it takes to create. It’s a whole new set of parameters, so it’s all new, everyone has ideas you haven’t heard before, and everyone is throwing them against the wall. It takes on a whole new life.”
